Chella softwares' application approved

Hi guys,

Sorry that I didn't post for a very long while (due to the meeting was postponed for a very long time). Now I have come with a very happy news for you all.

Chella softwares' application to build their own campus in 2.25 acres in ELCOT Software SEZ has been approved by the Board of Approval under Ministry of Commerce.

As I told you already, this is going to be the kickstarter for IT growth in Madurai region (though it has around 190+ small and medium software firms).

Chella rocking!

Hi guys,

It is quite a long time I wrote my last post. Sorry for the delay. This week I have come with a big update to cheer you all.

Chella software is in final stages of getting its co-developer application approved. The last meeting (13th March 2012) directed that the BoA shall give approval if they were found operating in the SEZ. The DC MEPZ have sent a letter (on 20th March 2012. Whatta speed of operation mama!!) to the BoA recommending the proposal of Chella guys. Below is the screen shot.

Source file of the above screenshot.

^^ Expecting a good outcome on May 22nd, 2012 BoA meeting that will kickstart the functioning of the SEZ I in Madurai and a good exports on stats next year. Special thanks to the Chella software group that has this much of passion toward Madurai.

DCP or MCP?

The Dhaya Cyber Park that was getting ready in a very quick pace, that cheered the Maduraiites for IT development, the supposedly first private IT Park our city would have got, that was supposed to house a ITES major Essar BPO with a headcount of 2000 and also some more IT Players ran into issues for it is said to encroach 8 cents of Madurai Corporation land and it is facing legal procedures and remains a play ground sans matches the past 1 or 2 years.

Now Madurai corporation is about the get the encroached land and develop a park in it (i.e Madurai Corporation park) but not a Cyber or Software park. A park like Rajaji and ECO Park.

Let us see what happens to the beautiful Dhaya Cyber Park..

Disaster Recovery Center - Will that be a disaster?

Hello guys,

I know I am late but I am not too late. I saw in stats, many have watched my blog yesterday for updates but unfortunately I didn't update yesterday. This time I have something different to say.

If you guys want to know how government wastes taxpayers money, please go by Ringroad and visit Ilandhaikulam IT SEZ. Such a big land acquired and nothing is moved except creation of a marriage hall there.

The IT Scenario in Madurai could get a big boost if provided a good wide band internet connectivity I said in one of my last posts.

That is expected to arrive with the Disaster Recovery Center viz a 60 Crores INR project that is the mirror of the State Data Center in Perungudi of Chennai (the servers will contain the data of government websites and government records for which government is taking significant steps for e-governance). One big advantage is the Disaster Recovery Center should be in a place very less vulnerable to natural disasters, attacks, etc for which Madurai qualifies in a big way. We expect the Disaster Recovery Center in Madurai shortly in the forthcoming budget session discussion on Information Technology minister's assembly speech and its policy notes to arrive.

Will come up with some other post next week. Stay tuned guys! Thanks for the following.

SEZ seems to get some life

Hi guys,

If we say IT companies, may dream of Infy, Wipro, HCL, TCS, Cognizant, etc. But do you guys know that a Madurai based software firm has figured into the Asia's fastest growing 500 Technology firms surveyed by Deloitte, one of the biggest surveying firms?

It is none other than Chella software that came in 184th place out of 500 and 14th out of 50 top technology firms in India. They have shown a growth rate at 246.866 percentage!! (Source) Please see the set of protocols for that survey. You could know that they are real capable people from it.

It is a software wing of the Thiyagarajar mills and Paramount airways group. They have been allotted 2.25 acres land in Ilandhaikulam IT SEZ and has applied for co-developer status (i.e to build their software development center campus) in the ELCOT SEZ notified zone in the 51st SEZ Board of Approval meeting.

Guys, no hope on the MNCs since the IT scenario is already very dull. So, Madurai based entrepreneurs could be hoped upon. The Chella software's application is under examination over which we expect positive outcomes because all the documents they have submitted are flawless ones unlike the shortcomings they faced the last one time.

As I already said, I will be updating my blog every Saturday. People could read it every Sunday and get updates from my side. If you guys find something wrong with my posts, please do notify me via comments. Thanks for the great viewership.

The exorbitant fixed rents

Hi guys,

Thanks for reading my blog posts. The number of audience views of my blog looks very promising. Thanks to all those who wants to know what is going on behind IT development in our Madurai region rather than feeling for why IT companies are not setting foot in South Tamil Nadu. This is my third post.

I spoke about the SEZ regulations that stops investors to move into the ELCOT IT SEZs for operation last week. What other factors are stopping them? Let us see it.

Please see this document in the link : http://www.elcot.in/pdf/IT%20space%20Criteria%20for%20allotment.pdf

It says that it makes to Rs. 28 per sq foot is the rental and minimal allocatable area in the built up space is 2000 sq ft. It makes to 56000 rupees per month for rent alone. In fact rent of the same area 2000 sq ft in Madurai's localities like KK Nagar, Anna Nagar, Bypass road will be very much less than that. So, this also plays a considerable role in stopping Medium and Small scale entrepreneurs to move into the IT SEZ IT Space. SEZ status is stated as an advantage in this document also but note that SEZ status is only advantageous for exports.

The minimum allocatable area is also very big that does not suit many of the small IT firms.

So, the rent plan for the built up space in our IT SEZ is very very exorbitant that the small and medium firms (both IT and ITES) that have very good headcounts could not move into it.

Will meet with a different perspective on the same issue in my next post. Thanks to all viewers once again.
